Foundation Quadrille

Formation: Quadrille 4 couples numbered anticlockwise 1,3,2,4 Tops = 1,2 Sides = 3,4

Music: 3 figures - Reel, Waltz, Jig

Figure 1 The Reel - 4 x 32 bars

4	Introduction Honour Partner, honour corner
8	1st Couple visit (promenade around inside the set)
4	Top couples, half R and L without hands
4	Side couples, half R and L without hands
4	Set to partners, (step, together, step lift to R then L)
4	Turn partners, open hand turn once around
4	All promenade back to place (halfway round set), lower promenade hold
4	All turn partners (2 hands).
96	Repeat with 2^nd couple, then 3^rd, 4^th couple leading visit, Half R&L

Figure 2 The Waltz - 2 x32 bars

8	Top couples waltz the set (once around the inside)
8	Side couples waltz the set
4	Ladies R hand star
4	Ladies L hand star
8	All waltz once around the set
32	Repeat with Sides Leading, Men RH/LH star

Figure 3 The Jig - 4 x32 bars

4	Ladies advance and retire
4	Men advance and retire
8	All join hands, Circle left then right
4	Set twice to corners, using pas-de-basque step
4	Swing corners, crossed hand swing
8	Promenade with corner back to man's position, lower promenade hold

Notes:

This dance was a winner of the Bush Music Club Dance Competition in 1992.
It is intended as an introductory quadrille and includes the quadrille setting step in figure 1, and the more familiar setting in figure 3.
